Job Summary:
The School of Business Advisor reports to the Director of the School of Business. The School of Business Advisor will provide direct support in the development, progression and completion of students’ educational and career goals by providing academic and transfer advising. Support student success and program completion by creating “My Academic Pathways” (MAPs) with each student. Actively listen and respond to student needs and if needed connect them to other wrap around services such as tutoring, success coaching, counseling, financial aid, etc. Support overall campus programs such as orientation, transfer and other related campus events. Duties may include evenings, occasional Saturdays, and work at extension centers and various off campus locations.
In addition to their advising responsibilities, the School of Business Advisor teaches a minimum of one (1) course in the School of Business depending upon program needs and the candidate’s qualifications. Teaching assignments may be on LCC’s downtown campus, at an extension center (within 40 miles of the downtown campus), and/or via online delivery methods. Advisors are expected to work collaboratively with senior department faculty to develop course content consistent with official course syllabi, to deliver course instruction to students, and to be available for student assistance outside of class. Additional responsibilities may include participation in course assessment, department/program meetings, professional development activities, and other duties as assigned.
Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree (from a regionally accredited institution)
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in an ever-changing, fast-paced, team oriented environment
Experience in teaching, training and facilitating groups

Preferred Qualifications:
PhD, EdD or terminal doctorate degree in a discipline within the School of Business (from a regionally accredited institution)
Two years or more of higher education academic advising experience
Two year or more of college level teaching experience, specifically in a community college
Experience working with at-risk and multicultural populations
