Job Summary:

The Library Technical Services Lead serves as the authority for cataloging all library monographs and serial publications, and oversees the borrowing and lending of materials through MeLCat and Interlibrary Loan (ILL) resource sharing services. This position also manages and checks-in the library’s standing order subscriptions and EBSCO serial subscriptions in Sierra; collects, compiles, and records statistics including electronic database usage statistics, technical services and systems statistics, and resource sharing statistics. In addition, this position serves as a resource and provides technical guidance and input for collection management for librarian liaisons, Center for Teaching Excellence, and Learning Commons. Works with colleagues and departments to ensure successful access to all collections for the LCC community. Continues to analyze and improve cataloging processes, records, and workflows. Further, this position provides technical guidance to staff and students, and also trains and oversees the technical services student employees.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher and a minimum of one year of relevant work experience, or a minimum of four years of related experience working in technical services in a library.

Experience with, and solid understanding of, copy cataloging procedures.

Experience with editing bibliographic records, and uploading records to and from a full-service online cataloging bibliographic utility tool for cataloging such as OCLC WorldShare Record Manager/WorldCat.

Experience using an Integrated Library System (ILS) with advanced experience using the catalog, Inn reach, serials, and acquisition functions/modules.

Familiarity and working knowledge of MARC and RDA fields and tags used for bibliographic records.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience using the ILS, Sierra.

Familiarity with resource sharing services.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Knowledge and experience in the use of spreadsheets and database applications.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Highly organized, flexible, and detail-oriented.

Experience working within a hybrid environment.

Experience using communication/conferencing software like WebEx, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom.
