Job Summary:

The assistant women's basketball coach reports to the athletic director and works under the head women's basketball coach’s day-to-day direction in support of the Lansing Community College women's basketball program. This position supports the recruitment and selection of student-athletes, provides instruction in basketball skills and techniques and prepares for practices and competitions. The assistant women's basketball coach also monitors student-athlete academic progress and coordinates program operations, including maintaining team statistics per MCCAA and NJCAA requirements. The incumbent promotes student-athlete success and represents the College professionally while assisting with the administration of scheduling, travel, equipment and related team logistics. The position is expected to comply with applicable College, MCCAA and NJCAA rules, policies and procedures and may be required to transport students using a college-owned vehicle as assigned.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan.

Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED.

Demonstrated knowledge of basketball fundamentals, training methods, player development and game strategy.

Valid driver’s license and ability to meet college requirements for operating a college-owned vehicle, if transportation duties are assigned.

Availability to work evenings, weekends and travel as required by the competition and recruiting schedule.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate degree or higher.

Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations.

Basketball coaching experience at the high school level or above.

Experience recruiting student-athletes and supporting academic success in a college athletics environment.
