Job Summary:

The Information Security Specialist position is responsible for supporting the administration and monitoring of the college’s information security infrastructure and, as part of the Information Security team, planning for business continuity and disaster recovery. This includes working with the Information Security Analyst to monitor, investigate and respond to information security events for all college technology devices relating to internal/external compromises and violations of college policy. This position provides entry-level evaluation of risks to the college from IT projects and assists with projects to improve the security architecture of college systems. This position will contribute to developing security awareness messages and communicating them to the college community; serve as a technical liaison to ITS (Information Technology Services) and other college personnel.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan.

Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

Required Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated information security or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

5 years of information technology or related experience.

Possession of industry certifications including, but not limited to, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC, especially GSEC), Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA).

Experience in the administration of Information Security Management Systems and Incident Response.
